City Launches Green Construction Pilot
June 7, 2010 - The certification of green homes helps meet a number of the city's goals relating to energy efficiency, water conservation and the protection of natural resources. "It's a great program," said Mike Rogers, a Tallahassee area developer and member of the Capital Green Building Group. He is hoping the program will lead to more builders being involved in sustainable construction practices, especially in the affordable housing segment of the local market.
"The city of Tallahassee is showing tremendous leadership in sustainability and a continued commitment to improving the quality of life for our residents," Rogers added. "This incentive program provides support to the building community and encouragement to continue new home construction at a time when it's most critical to the recovery of our local economy."
